Best camcorder?

Ok, I’m kind of new to the world of camcorders since the last one I bought was just a standard vhs tape kind so it’s been a while. I need some opinions and info on the best camcorder to get my hubby for christmas. Do you recommend the hi8 tape, mini dvd, or regular dvd type? Any additional info on the different types would be great. Also, where did you purchase–I’m thinking overstock.com but not sure. Just please, someone educate me on this!

Hey I was wondering what is the best type of camcorder now adays? I am buying a new one since my sigital camera is getting sort of beat up, and I was wondering: Should I buy another digital camcorder? 8 track? Or should I get one with a hard drive? Thanks.

I want to get my fiance a camcorder for Christmas, he’s a technology freak so I want to impress him. I do not want MiniDV format. I would like to spend 300ish if possible, I just want the best for the money.

Best simple software for wife to copy video from her new Flip recorder to DVD?

I’ve just gotten my wife a Flip video camera for her birthday. She has a DVD burner in her laptop, but probably won’t use any conversion to DVD software that’s too complicated. From user reviews, it seems as though most conversion packages are either unreliable or unsuitable for novices. Anybody know of reasonably priced software that would work?
